School Science and Technology Fairs

The University del valle (UVG) participated in Liceo Guatemala`s Science and Technology (S&T) week. Liceo Guatemala is a private boys and girls school and UVG participated on two separate occasions in the S&T festivities. First, Liceo Guatemala’s Robotics Club visited the UVG Central Campus on May 13th. Also, the UVG Engineering and Science and Humanities Faculties organized the Innovations Fair. Deans Eng. Fernando Paiz and Dr. Adrian Gil shared the experience with young students in two workshops: “importance of science”, and “current engineering”. In addition to Liceo Guatemala’s S&T fair, a small science fair was held at the American Institute of Guatemala on the 4th of June where the physics and chemistry departments carried out several interesting experiments.


Potencia-T Teens: Physics and Robotics Workshops

On Thursday, the 21st of May from 4pm-7pm, the Universidad del valle Central Campus hosted the first Potencia-T Teens event where 7th through 9th graders participated from surrounding educational centers in the metropolitan area of Guatemala. The 117 attendees participated in two workshops. In the physics workshop, students learned about the properties of water, in a separate workshop, students learned about robotics and had the opportunity to program two humanoid NAO robots.


May STEM Program for Teacher Professional Development

UVG’s Professional Development program for Middle and High School teachers started on the month of May with webinars and a workshop about: “What and Why STEM?”, “The Engineering Design Process”, and “Design Thinking in the Classroom”. A total of 98 teachers participated in the program.
